Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Hello! I am new to the Sane forums. I love reading, writing, and all things creative. I’m from Europe but have been living in Australia on and off since 2017.

I am looking to learn how to manage and live with my mental health challenges. I experience stress / depression / anxiety / panic attacks and C-PTSD. These, however, are just words and labels and they do not define me.

I feel I have been identifying with my suffering for too long and I’m looking to explore who I am outside of my trauma and mental health challenges.

Hi! I’m new to this page.

I’m looking to get some relationship support as I’m new to this and can get some anxious thoughts regarding this. Just want to find a community who can support me and guide me through. Also would help to know if I’m overthinking things or if things should be brought up. Fun fact about me is I love to do Pilates and watch movies that get me jumping (thriller, horror - not so much now, and action movies). Hope to hear from you guys more 😊

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Hello there!

I’m new here. I’m a 31 year old auDHD girly. Video games and fantasy are what I enjoy most as well as spending time with my cat or being out in the green nature.

I’ve been looking for a safe space with understanding people for a long time as I feel in the real world I always have to mask who I truly am to be more palatable for society, but it is draining and I was starting to feel lost.

I am quite socially awkward, plus scared to make connections out of fear of rejection or getting hurt, and my ASD can also get in the way, but ultimately I know I still want connection and thought maybe with people who know what it’s like that it might not be so scary and possible to find.

Thank you for reading! ☺️

Hey @CloudedLight ! Welcome to the forums! Thank you for sharing a little about yourself.

I'm pleased to introduce you to @Captain24 and @Jynx . They may be able to share their experiences with you.

Feel free to have a look at AuDHD Life: Anyone else?

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Hey @CloudedLight great to meet you! AuDHD gang checking in hehe I love chatting away about my ND life!!

Definitely no masking needed here. You'll find many folks who can relate to how exhausting it is to present a certain way to the world! I think another great thing about this community is that there's no pressure to respond right away or in a certain way, you can engage with the space in the way that best suits your needs! This is coming from someone who has struggled a lot in the past with feeling the need to respond right away, to texts or emails or whatever 😅

I also LOVE fantasy... Big D&D nerd over here 😋 Always happy to chat about it, or about ND stuff, or about pretty much anything!! Just tag me whenever you like and I'll respond when I'm next online 💜

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

@Jynx so lovely to e-meet a fellow auDHDer 🥹

I can totally relate to that! My phone is permanently on silent and doesn’t even vibrate, I feel everyone should have the right to check communications on their own time. I will admit I feel bad for my slow response right now because I’ve been moving the past few days 😮💨

Eeeee, I genuinely squealed with excitement over that! I’ve always wanted to get into D&D but I’ve never found anyone that wants to. How long have you been doing it for?

In response to: Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

@CloudedLight never any pressure for time frames responding! Especially moving house, oh my stars that's always such a headache!

My phone doesn't vibrate either lol and I have the setting turned on that screens all calls from unknown numbers 😅 It suits me wonderfully!

On and off for a couple of years with D&D, I haven't played in a while though! Finding a group to play with is the hardest part I think, that and then trying to find a day when everyone is free!

Do you have a fav type of class or character to play?

In response to: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Hi!

I’ve recently got married for the first time and it has been a really rocky road.

The start of our relationship was an absolute whirlwind, I finally met the love of my life and am getting treated like a queen however it soon became apparent that something wasn’t quite right.

I have sat by his side while in a coma after attempting three times just this year, the first being the week before our wedding (my mum was very sick and passed away on my wedding day as well). The second during a trip to Bali which was really scary! And the most recent on his birthday where I put him into inpatient care and he was finally diagnosed with BPD and is working hard and doing well with treatment.

Since then, I am starting to realise my 19 year old son shows signs of NPD. He has been breaking my heart for years with his complete lack of empathy towards me and others, I don’t believe he was even sad when my mum died, nor other close family members in the past. I have been beating myself up and gone through so much depression thinking i was the problem and giving him all the gentle love and care I can but he just takes advantage of it and genuinely doesn’t care. It is way beyond ‘normal teenager behaviour’.

I brought it up with his dad and my husband and they both responded like ‘yeah you don’t see it but he really does not care’. My husband does DBT with a few people that have serious issues with NPD and he is quite concerned.

Where do I go from here?

In response to: Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Hi @PDMumandWife and welcome

It sounds like there is a lot on your plate at the moment.

I'm sorry to hear about what you and your husband have been going through, though it sounds like some positives steps forward have been taken since he was able to get a diagnosis.

And to be supporting your new husband while also going through this worry about your son sounds as though it could quickly become overwhelming. I hear that you're concerned about your son's displays of empathy and emotions, it can be tricky because there are quite a few different conditions which can present in similar ways, some of which can co-occur with NPD. To really know what is going on your son would have to seek diagnosis himself - is that something you think he might consider at all?

Considered all of the support you're giving, I'm wondering what support you have access to at the moment? Have you been able to lean on any friends or family during this time?

In response to: Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Hi @Ru-bee thanks for the reply ☺️
I actually did reach out to the clinic where my husband stayed as an inpatient and continues his ongoing outpatient therapy and they were very helpful and checked in on me as well. They were able to offer me some information on support groups they run for carers and family members so I will definitely get involved with those in the new year. It’s hard to realise that you also need to look after yourself when looking after others, which became apparent recently when the grief from losing my mum finally hit me from February. I hadn’t allowed myself to be sad because I didn’t want to stress my husband out as he’s very sensitive to my mood.
They also mentioned that obviously my son has a right to privacy and needs to seek his own help but I am able to at least let his psych know of my concerns and he might keep an eye out. I know my husband it took a long time to diagnose due to masking, but I need to find a way to talk to him about it before I do that. It’s a hard one to bring up and I just don’t want to make him feel attacked or that I’m not on his team.
I love them both so much and just want the best for them!

Hi!

I’m here to hopefully connect with others who can relate and who are supportive, and bonus if there are other horse-lovers here.🐴❤️

I have Complex PTSD, which has been a bit of a roller coaster, to say the least!

I’m hoping to get some tips on making lasting connections/friendships from others who can relate to the challenges of C-PTSD and general coping strategies, especially when you get that ‘everything suddenly crashes to the pit of your stomach’ feeling.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Hey,

Just joined, first post.

So obviously I was a stoker, medical discharge in 2020 after serving 18 and a half years.

Since then I just can't seem to find my place in society. I thought after defence would be easy, but to tell the truth, I'm struggling.

In response to: Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Hi there,
Thank you for sharing this with us. Leaving Defence after such a long period of service — especially through a medical discharge — can be a huge adjustment, and many people find it far more difficult than they expected. It makes sense that you’d be feeling unsettled and struggling to find your place after nearly two decades in a very structured environment.

You’re not alone in this experience, and it’s okay to talk about how challenging that transition has been. If you feel comfortable, you’re welcome to share more about what you’ve found hardest since leaving, or what support (if any) you’ve tried so far. Other members here with lived experience may be able to relate and offer understanding.

We’re really glad you reached out and posted. Please be kind to yourself — adjusting after service can take time, and support can make a difference.

Take care,
Moderator

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Hi guys, I joined cos I feel overwhelmed at the moment. I have depression and see a psychologist and was diagnosed with BPD many years ago. I live with my teen kids and partner but other relatives live overseas. Over the years I've been 'ghosted' by 3 friends. My aunt just stopped sending xmas /birthday  presents etc to us over a year ago. My brother who had reached out to me around 10 years ago on fb ( previously hadn't seen him for years) we got on i sent gifts to his family he did the same. I met up with him and his family 4 years ago it was lovely.  Then 2 years ago I said I was flying over for xmas did he want to meet up. His response was ' No Im busy. Happy Christmas " I asked if all was ok, if I'd done something wrong ' he said. " No,  happy Christmas'  then nothing for 2 years. Ive unfriended him and his family and my aunt.. I feel so sad and crying non stop. I can't deal anymore with being abandoned anymore. Im reaching out as I dont want to put myself out there anymore to be rejected. I dont want to ask them why. If they dont want to text me  I would rather just leave it and move on. What is wrong with me?? Sorry for the miserable.post. 😊

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Hi @Tracey5

I’m really glad you reached out, and I’m sorry you’re carrying so much right now. This doesn’t sound like a “miserable post” at all; it sounds like someone who’s been hurt repeatedly and is exhausted from it. 💛

What you’re describing — friends disappearing, family going quiet without explanation — can feel incredibly painful and confusing. Being “ghosted” or cut off taps straight into feelings of abandonment, and when that happens more than once, it can really shake your sense of safety and self-worth. It makes sense that you’re feeling overwhelmed and tearful.

I want to say this clearly as a moderator:
There is nothing “wrong” with you.
People pulling away without explanation is about their limits, avoidance, or circumstances — not a measure of your value as a person.

It’s also completely understandable that you don’t want to keep putting yourself out there just to risk being rejected again. Wanting to protect yourself isn’t weakness; it’s self-preservation. You’re allowed to decide not to chase answers or force connections that aren’t being reciprocated.

A few gentle points to hold onto:

  • Having depression and a past BPD diagnosis does not mean you deserve abandonment.

  • Feeling this level of sadness doesn’t mean you’re failing at coping — it means you’ve been hurt.

  • Unfriending or stepping back can be a way of setting boundaries when contact is too painful.

It’s really positive that you’re already seeing a psychologist. If you can, this would be a very important thing to bring into those sessions — especially the repeated losses and how they’re affecting you now. You don’t have to solve this on your own.

Please know this group is a place where you don’t have to apologise for being honest about how hard things are. You’re not alone here, and you’re welcome to keep sharing at your own pace. 💙

Awww hun @BipolarRich . So sorry to hear this!

"Again"? Does this mean it has happened before?

Happy if you want to start a thread so discuss. It sounds incredibly hard. Would love to connect with you more and so others can also support you too.

No pressure of course, but if you want to start a thread, and don't know how, we can also support with this.

Looking foward to hearing from you.

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

I was crushed between a forklift and the side of a truck 12 years a go and had a list of injuries a page long. Three fractures to my lumbar vertebrae and two ruptured discs.

I lost sensation in my left leg and was successful with the first op but I think the second on has failed 🤔😡🤬🫤

In response to: Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Awwww mate. That's tough. It brings me back to a friend I had who got injured at work and lost sensation in her arm completely. She never fully recovered. That was when she was in her early 20s and just starting her career. She's in her 40s now. It's really affected her quality of life.

Hence, I can see how hard it is for you. We all only have one back. Walking, eating, sleeping... is all affected by one's back. I can only imagine the pain that comes with it.

Any chance of recovery in the future? Or is it too hard to tell at this point? @BipolarRich

I am only going to be getting worse as time goes on.

I also had my left femur snapped in half, torn left ACL, coccyx fractured into five pieces, both kidneys bruised, bleed on the liver four muscles torn in my upper back and a partial ligament tear in my left shoulder..... should be able to explain the anxiety and PTSD

In response to: Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Absolutely hearing you. I guess I can't 'fix' you physical challenges, but any thoughts about how we can support you emotionally through this deep valley? @BipolarRich

What things do you do to stay 'well'?

In response to: Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

I heavily rely on my "inner circle of friends and family"

I very rarely let others in to my space as this has now given my mind a fight response and I don't think I want to hurt anyone , so I keep people at an arms length

In response to: Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Fair enough @BipolarRich . It's not easy at all. I think it took a lot for me to 'get out' and start interacting with people. To be honest, these forums helped with that. I had stopped interacting with the world for a decade... and only slowly slowly, I opened up.

Go slow mate. Do what you feel is right for you.

We're here for you.

Hi and welcome to the forums @foolking34. I hope you find the forums to be helpful and supportive like they have been for myself. I  read that you like old Aussie tv shows. What are your favourite shows? My mother and I used to like Mr Ed  - not Australian but still good shows. I still like Blue Heelers, A Country Practice, Raffertys Rules and Home and Away.

Take care and I hope to see you around the forums soon.

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

I've joined as I am looking for ways to support someone in my life. Not really sure where to go as this person doesn't think there's anything wrong. It's everyone else and they've cut contact with anyone that has challenged them, including close family.

Lots of highs for months, financial, partner and work problems then months of lows with no contact with anyone but work.

In the past year with highs and lows some paranoid and what I can only describe as psychotic thoughts are starting.

Events in the past are being retold incorrectly and some medical problems are being exaggerated and or made up with some minor self medication and ignoring medical advice. I can only go by what I've been told as I haven't been to the appointments but the story keeps changing.

This person is very much able to articulate very well verbally and dismisses any offers of help, turning any  criticism back on to the other person.

Hope this makes sense, I've had a little look around and can't find anything helpful so would be grateful for advice. This might not even be the right forum.

Oh and as far as I can tell there is no self harm worry but risky behaviours have been increasing for several years.

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Hello and welcome @DLB

I'm hearing how challenging it must be supporting this loved one and the worry that must come with witnessing them experience such highs and lows. You mentioned that they will turn back any criticism on the other person and is dismissive of any suggestions that something is wrong - have you been able to have any conversations with them about what you've observed?

I do definitely think that you've posted in the right forum, though sometimes it can be helpful to start up a new thread to ensure that more members see your post. If you'd like I can help you to move this to it's own thread, otherwise it's certainly okay here

Hi. I’m

new!

I’m kinda doing a thing where I’m replacing social media with these support peer mental health forums and seeing if that makes a difference. I’m on two others and wanna see how this compares. Just chose my user cause I have a toy panda from we bare bears I won from a claw machine and I named him Soiree and I take him to my therapy appointments so idk thats me I guess.

Hey, I'm Exceptional !

Hope all reading this are well.

I found these forums as I am searching for housing options as I experience a mental illness, have a NDIS package and am currently in crisis accommodation. Hoping to join Mind [location edited by moderator] but we'll see how that unfolds.

I live with bipolar disorder that has completely disrupted my 20's (I'm 29 now). Looking to stabilise with proper medication, strategies to cope and deal and hopefully strive for a life where I thrive and am happy, I know it's possible.

All the best !

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Hey 👋  37 mum of 2 girls. Been diagnosed bipolar and adhd for around 7 years, the past 3 years in particular have been really hard. Hospitalised with a full on mixed bipolar episode, which wasn't properly treated.. eventually leading to the horrible post manic depressive episode. As of now I've got a new psychiatrist who's unsure if I  even have bipolar (very much disagree). We did the bpd assessment he suggested and I'm sitting in what they call "the grey area" so.. ironically I'm right on the border of having borderline personality disorder. Anyway, mainly here because I find being a mum and having mental illnesses, it's incredibly hard in your mid 30's to make friendships, let alone maintain them and I would absolutely love some nice, funny (dark humour especially) people to connect with. I also absolutely love anything alternative, metelcore, nu metal, rock n roll's in the blood 🤘☺️

Hey everybody.

Thought I'd introduce myself a little bit.

I've had anxiety and depression for the majority of my life, am now in my mid 30s.

I'm a little worries about revealing I'm a drug user. As I don't know if you guys accept addicts on this forum.

Anyways looking forward to meeting you folks.

Thanks

Hey everyone. Thought I'd introduce myself a little bit. Also had a few questions.

I have had anxiety and depression most of my life, am in my mid 30s.

I'm also an addict, which I'm not sure if you guys allow folks like me in the forum.

Recently had some health issues to do with my heart.

This past week I've been having a rough time, but it's ok.

Looking forward to meeting you folks.

Thanks.

Thanks Shaz, it’s nice to meet you. I almost lost my mother a week ago. My last remaining family member and since then it’s been non stop hospital visits and having to travel over two hours every day to care for her pets and get her house ready for when she comes home. I’m exhausted and haven’t had a break. I also don’t have any help. Not sure when they will allow her home. Feeling a little over whelmed.

Sending you lots of understanding hugs 🫂 @Lonewolf73

It can be very overwhelming

Have you talk to the doctor about your situation? Do you live near your mum ?

Doctor can help arrange care for you mum when she is able to go back home

I was a carer for my mum and we have to remember to take care of ourselves xx

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

HI there @Lonewolf73 ,

Sorry to hear about the recent events. It sounds exhausting! Is there a way you can stay at her place or bring the pets to your place? The commute itself sounds incredible tiring, let alone the mental strain it is having on you.

I'm so glad you had the courage to reach out here.

Some of us are hanging out at Saturday Soiree -- 7th March 2026 . Come and join us! Hopefully you'll feel less alone.

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Thanks for the hugs. Needed and appreciated. I live over an hour away from her. So back and fourth every day is two. Have had great communication from the Drs but things keep going wrong and her release date keeps getting pushed back, she can also be a little difficult so it makes things harder. It’s compounded by us losing my uncle last year and two of her cousins. They were like our support network and vise versa. So that extra support isn’t there. I don’t have any other family. No siblings and my dad died in 2009. She is under [edited by moderator] care but none of that starts until she gets home. Then there’s trying to keep her calm and co operative. As I guess you’d know it’s a lot to deal with.

Hey @Lonewolf73 ,

It certainly is a lot for you. You mentioned you don't have any supports. So does that mean when they return from hospital, you will have to travel there everyday too?

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

@tyme I can’t really stay at hers or bring the dogs with me as I have my own cat at home and he’s a recent rescue. The cat is indoor only. And the dogs are Jack Russells and prone to unaliving other animals. My yard wouldn’t be safe enough for them either as the fences aren’t dog friendly and I live near a busy highway. I’m hoping it’s only going to be a couple more days. But if it’s any longer they might need to go to a pet care resort or whatever they call them for a few days. I am getting pretty fatigued.

Hi everyone. I haven’t been on a forum for years! I have joined as I need help with a) my anger and owning that, and b) relationship help dealing with anger issues, arguments with a husband who has ADHD and diagnosed depression with DVA.
Im going to look at counselling with Open Arms, it has helped with other issues in the past. Relationships Australia also have courses but he won’t come with me until I’ve done some on my own.

I am interested in sexual topics.

Is that discussed here?

In response to: Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Hi @Autism2026,

There's no outright ban on the discussion of sexual topics, however we don't allow any graphic or explicit details to be shared, due to the nature of the forum. Some of our members have faced sexual trauma and may find such topics quite triggering.

Generally there's not a lot of discussion of sexual topics, and language would need to be kept vague. If you are using a computer there is a trigger warning that can be used (on the editing toolbar click the three dots on the right to expand; highlight the text you wish to hide, and click the triangle with an exclamation point inside it to obscure the highlighted text), however it may be helpful to familiarise yourself with our Community Guidelines before posting.

Music , at least in my ears(and 👀 too) has gotten me out of a lot of scary and dark times.

Not many people have heard of the genre called, "Yacht Rock". Some AWESOME old school 70's and 80's dose of cheesy goodness, but this always lifts my spirits as to how daggy these songs actually are

Hi I just signed up. I have anxiety and depression and I’m a highly sensitive person and I’m struggling with the very recent loss of my fur baby, he was the only family I had and now I’m feeling so alone without him. Just wanted to try this out as I don’t have anyone I can talk to who isn’t going to judge me.

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Hello @SoftGlimmer, welcome!! You have come to a wonderful community of likeminded people who understand what it's like to experience anxiety, depression, and sensitivity, all of which make you wonderfully human.

I am so sorry to hear about the recent loss of your fur baby, I can't imagine how painful this has been for you. Losing a family member is no small thing... I am curious to know what supports you have right now?

Please know we are here for you and I am certain many people will be able to relate to your story.

When you are ready, please don't hesitate to start a new thread of your own, dedicated to all things @SoftGlimmer. 💛

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Hi @SoftGlimmer , welcome and sorry to hear about the recent loss of your furbabies.

As @MissGremlin said (and thabk you for tag 😊), i am very much a lover of all animals and hvae 2 dogs of my own who i would be devestated if anything happened to them. They are close family to me.

I don't know much about processing grief and loss; but i have heard that for some people talking about memories and cherishing can help. Know that i am always interested to listen and discuss memories of furbabies (and humans), and also very open to learning more about how processing the grief works best for you and what that support looks like for you as an individual 😊.

I guess I can be a pretty sensitive person too (high empathy and need for connection), balanced with a fairly healthy dose of rational thinking and perspective-taking too though which helps me in difficult emotional times unless it goes "too far" 🤭.

I am sometimes very active on the forums, and other times (lately) been less able ti get on regularly. So please know if i don't respond it is only a reflection of my current capacity at the time and never on the people here. 🥰

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Hello,

I’m in my 30s and have been suffering from chronic health conditions that have now left me bed bound. I live in an isolated part of Western Australia where health care is very limited. Since I couldn’t travel to socialise in person over the years my friends abandoned me. Last year my health got even worse which started causing some anxiety and I started feeling very lonely. My mum is my career and the only person I have left in my life. The only other people I speak to are medical staff. I’ve come here looking for some human interaction, I hope I can also help encourage others.

@SoftGlimmer hi there. Like @MissGremlin said, I have 2 furbabies, Mal and Gypsy. They are known as MM (Mr MurderMittens) and GypsyMonroe.

MM is a red point Ragdoll and GyosyMonroe is a Ragdoll cross who knows (her mother escaped and had an affair with a local boy who quickly disappeared when he found out he was a dad!!)

The last photo is of my Border Collie, Kelly. She passed away back in 2011 at 13. I don't think I'll ever get another dog as Kelly was so special no other pup would measure up to her.

I am so sorry for your loss, I grieved more over Kelly than I did my own father - I got more from my relationship with my dog than him sad to say.
If you are comfortable doing so I'd love to hear more about your beloved furbaby xoxo

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

@MissGremlin thanks beautiful. Mal is particularly good looking and yes he does get annoyed when I smoosh him and kiss him. He tolerates it. Just! He is definitely not one who fights, being a ragdoll he is very laid back. He is lying on his back beside me at the moment, his front paws are curled up and one of his back paws is pointing straight up. Unlike a lot of cats he doesn't mind a belly rub.

I think your Indy is pretty adorable too 😉

@Fenegyerek there is the Sane Cattery, I'll tag you in it. I'd love to see pics of your babies xoxo

@ENKELI ragdolls have such a gentle nature, my mother used to have 2. Mal just sounds divine, the way he's laying sounds adorable 😍

Are you thinking of Indi that @Chasingsunsets has? I have Casper, the crazy and cheeky black labrador 😂.

In response to: Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

@MissGremlin yes, I mixed Indi and Casper up! It was when I read a post from @Chasingsunsets that I realised my mistake.

i'm almost 30 and started to take my mental health journey a lot more seriously since my mid 20s and we're hoping to have another space to be supported and support! I've started picking up arts and crafts as a hobby to help bring back what i used to do as a child and another means of expressing myself 🙂 will be glad to chat and meet the rest of the community around here.

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Hey there @carmine1809 ,

Welcome to the forums. So glad to have you with us.

It's great you have identified that arts and craft is what you'd like to reignite as part of your passion. That can be so powerful.

I'm sorry to hear that things have been hard since your 20s. I can certainly relate to that.

Are you a reader by any chance?

In response to: Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

What are some things that keep you going? @carmine1809

What sort of arts and craft do you like?

I like making things that have purpose. I haven't learnt to appreciate art for what it is - yet 🙂

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Hi Everyone,

I have complex PTSD and DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder).

Recently got discharged from a long hospitalisation as I was very unwell. Also dealing with grieving the loss of my cats who both died.

Working on getting my medications right and my life back together, specifically getting a job and long term accomodation.

Hoping to gain and provide support through this platform.

In response to: Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Welcome to the forums @Evie89 !

Great to have you with us. We are sorry to hear you have had a long hospitalisation.

At the same time, just reading your post beings such inspiration. I can see how much you want to get back on your feet in getting a job and long term accomodation.

What does your support network look like?

If you are not already connected, you may be interested in SANE Recovery Club at https://www.sane.org/recovery-club

This is a free service that offers support in the form of 1:1 support, resources, these forums and recovery groups.

What are things that keep you well, or that you enjoy doing?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Thanks for your reply.

I am working on expanding my social/support network as it is quite limited.

Currently working on joining some peer recovery groups and I have been trying to join some events on meetup as I am quite isolated.

I usually go for multiple walks a day, Coloring on my iPad and playing games on my Nintendo Switch 2 to try and distract myself.

Really want to move away from watching the clock and constantly checking what time it is.

I think increasing my social/support network will help and also trauma therapy which I am on the waitlist for.

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

They @Evie89 , great to hear you have a few things in place.

Life is about learning. About trying new things. So good on you for giving things a go.

I've never attended Meet Ups. I generally look at local events in my area. Then again, I prefer my own company 🙂

I generally take my dog for a walk and try to say hello to people I see.

What are your local libraries like? Do they have any events and programs?

Hey ya, new to the group a couple weeks ago but just figured out this morning that i was supposed to introduce myself.. lol i get things backwards all the time but I'm learning to accept it now rather than stess or rage over it..

I won't rattle on with a 20+ page yarn about everything devastating thats ever happened to me but all of it has created circumstances that have brought me to this moment and being apart of SANE...

I'm a 35yr old woman from Western Qld and have finally been diagnosed officially with everything i suspected but couldn't get help for until i went to rehab in January 2026.

I am a recovering drug addict, abuse and neglect survivor recently diagnosed with ADHD type 2, BPD, Major depressive Disorder MDD, C-PTSD, Co-morbid Substance use Disorder and then behaviour characterised by Separation Anxiety.

It's been a wild ride so far but I'm lfigureing out how to rewire my thinking and adapt my behaviour so i experience healthy emotions.

Stoked to be apart of something with people who understand and that can guide me on this strange new chapter 🙏  love and light to you all xox

Hello lovely! I am going to a concert to worship my Italian heritage and see an artist who holds some very strong emotions for me.

Some beautiful, some exceptionally distressing.

I am taking my wife and two adult kids. The kids are complaining that they don't know the songs, so guess which artist has been on repeat all week.....

HAhahaha @BipolarRich ,

They don't have a choice nor a reason to say they don't know!

Sounds like a lovely event coming up for you.

I love musicals and theatre, but because I take my niblings, everything has to be kiddo friendly. The youngest is 5 years old.

Enjoy and tell us how it goes for you!

Luckily for all forum members, you can't hear my pathetic attempts to sing.

However, I know and understand all the lyrics, so I guess I am playing translation buddy.

How was your weekend, everyone?

@Noblegnosis ,

Kids are sooo funny. My niblings live next door to me so I spend significant time with them. They always make me laugh. Even when they make me angry, I can't stay angry for long.

Kiddos are cute when they learn to walk and talk. They have a world to discover that's before them.

It sounds like you are pretty close to them?

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Hi, Nitrogenous here 🙂

Thought about giving this forum a try to be part of a forum that is more recovery-focused and gain insight into various coping mechanisms as I'm navigating through my chronic mental health problems 🙂

Fun fact, I also have experience as a peer recovery support worker within the MH system and helping others navigate through their mental health challenges also gave me hope 🙂 Hopefully, I won't get judged here for being a peer worker who is currently struggling myself as a lot of services out there unfortunately still have that stigma.

Cheers,
Nitrogenous

Hi, Im new too, I just wanted to say im so glad your trying to work on it, its hard. please know that just because you talk to your loved ones, it doesnt make you a burden! i obviously dont know your partner, but ive been a carer and the one needing care. sometimes having the other person talk to you about how they are feeling feels like 'finally!' that explains it, i had this whole other reason in my head I thought it was, or I thought it was me!

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Hey all,

Just quickly introducing myself! I’m living with C-PTSD and I’m Autistic. I also am a wheelchair user. I am an occupational therapist currently working with unhoused folks which is great but also deeply emotional and draining, especially when I have also experienced being unhoused and many of the traumas my clients have experienced too. I’ve done a lot of therapy over the last decade or so and overall cope a lot better than I have previously, but still struggle at times (honestly, currently it’s been a bit weird NOT being so depressed when it’s been so deep my whole life - bit of a weird loss almost of identity itself?? Hard to explain. Nirvana put it best with “I miss the comfort of being sad” lol). Hoping to find some connection with folks here as well as share my own wisdoms of lived experience as I find that is healing in its own right. Thanks for having meee ❤️

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Hi everyone, my mental health awareness journey began after I experienced a seizure in 2009 and my behaviours and perceptions changed significantly afterwards. C-PTSD, borderline personality disorder, depression, generalised anxiety, ADHD and ASD are parts of my day-to-day, and I've explored a range of different one-to-one, group and in-patient therapy programs. I'm getting better at catching automatic reactions and allowing myself the grace to unmask - being considerate of others is important, but I don't need to punish myself for being authentically me either. I hope to learn and grow in this space!

I've been sick for weeks due to an ongoing stressor at work and cant quit but cant see an end in site.

I have a psych appointment on Monday and an appointment Tuesday with my doctor.

I am also a mum of two boys and had pre and post natal with them and spent time in a psych ward where I was put on medication.
