Yes, there is an orangutan sanctuary (which also does research I believe?) in Borneo. Sandakan is the "main city" (eg for commercial flights) that is most convenient for getting there. Can be done as a day-trip, or you can drive and stay in accommodation closer to the sancturary - which is a great idea to stay nearby if you also want to see the sun-bear sanctuary or other places nearby.

If you like "in the full wild" experiences (not guaranteed sighting though) and are OK with very-basic accommodations, I can recommend tours that do overnight stays in Deramakot Forrest Reserve. It is very restrictive in terms of a single-road you can travel on, and it takes about 5 hours of driving from Sandakan to get there (rough roads for the last few hours!), and only via organised tours. But the restrictions on where you can go is because of protecting the wildlife & forest. It's also a really interesting way to see/learn about how they practice "sustainable, selective logging" in the forest. 

Sorry, maybe too much info for anyone not as interested in visiting animals in the wild as me 🤣. But know you always have a friend here to ask about wildlife tourism! (Two special interests rolled into one topic. I studied one of them at university even lol, and that degree touched on the other topic too in some subjects.)

I find sometimes when I have no highlights it's the most important time for me to come to this thread so I can be uplifted by sharing in other people's "wins". But I do also know at times this can back-fire for me if I am too depressed because then I feel like everyone else has "good things" and I don't -- which is kinda when it's good to read that someone else doesn't have a highlight either?  That's just how my brain works 🤣. I love my brain, but sometimes it can be frustrating to live with too.

I have a highlight today 😊. My closest friend is coming to visit for a few days. I will likely not be online much because of any time spent not in my usual commitments will likely be with her. But this is a good thing too because I get to spend time with her. But I will also miss not being as active here (which I already miss over the past month due to hectic life).

I may be physically absent, but not emotionally 🤗.

My highlights today were good conversatoins in and out of the city, on the train.

Mind you at first I found the silence on a Metro train very weird and creepy. Over hundred people crammed in and everyone on their phones and most with earbuds etc.... As an irregular traveller on trains these days, I felt shocked by the disconnection.  Though most all had their heads in a device.

On the way in ... a lovely young teen ... came and spoke to me cos I made a mum joke outloud about it to a mum who entered with a baby in a pram... I said real people... humans not bots...

The student who came and shyly chatted was introvert and high achieving the the select entry system and doing 2 musical instruments... so we had a great chat.

Then, on the way home, after picking up some rubbish left behind, and making a comment lead to a series of conversations ....

The reason I went into the city... was to see a lawyer ... and she was lovely... but it is all so limited... by "scope of practice"... I can see I will never get justice... beyond token ... and endless referrals .... Joseph Conrad had a point ... about bureacracy, in The Castle ....

So thats me settling for the glimmers... when my family stuff is still in limbo... no matter what I do, or who I am. Still its better for me, in taking the next step... and next breath

Awww @Chasingsunsets  What a trooper!

My highlight today was hearing from @Chasingsunsets  😊

My highlight today was going to my volunteer place. I woke up this morning feeling a bit off, cried in the car on my way there, wondering if I should really go today. But then the first thing that happened when I walked in the door was that one of the workers there loudly said my name and rushed up to me, to give me a hug. Another worker also came by later on, and said they just thought of me the other day, and that they have been missing me. I haven't been around for a while, hearing that just meant the world to me today...🙂

@REDLINEZ750  hey Red love love those ducks! we have the same type where we live. i love to watch them waddle.  we used to have pet ducks. a pekin, indian runner, 2 x mallards and one other i cant remember the breed. they were such characters.

On my daily walk in the morning I catch the sunrise. I thought I'd share it today.  💚

The frangipani holds a special place in my heart. My parents had two outside their old fibro home on the Central Coast that are still there, years later. And now I have a small frangipani tree in a pot that I got from those old trees! It's a nice memory for me and puts a smile on my face!

I know you're dealing with impossible feelings and thoughts at the moment, so I won't ask how you are. You're here, you're looking after Casper and still doing what is needed! That's got to account for something! 💚

Awww that's so special ❤️. You actually just brought a memory back for me, years ago when I was growing up I had an adopted grandfather (i don't have any real ones) and when I would visit him I'd gather the frangipanis and thread them onto string to make a necklace. Thankyou, it's brought a tear to my eye as it's something I'd forgotten but it's a moment in my life where I had happiness.

I just saw the image of the Cupie doll that you posted. Very nice, especially in the red colour! I remember seeing them at the Easter show once.

@TAB the official scientific name for the common lemon tree grown in Australia is Citrus x limon (L.) Osbeck. The orange tree in Australia is Citrus x sinensis. It is often referred to simply as the Sweet Orange.

The Red-spotted Purple is a species known for its iridescent blue and black wings. Despite its name, its primary colours are dark blue and black, often with orange or red spots on the underside and along the outer wing margins. Awwww thanks @heartathome my mood is picking up, so hopefully today will be a good day. I was saying to Bunniekins that maybe my mood has picked up because some the crystals that I ordered are starting to arrive and maybe their healing powers are starting to work on me.

This is my collection so far, and I have more coming. I have order some specifically for depression and panic attacks since my partner had one at work a little while ago and I have had a couple myself.

My sister is also into crystals and she suffers from lots of migraines, and I found a place that sells a set of crystals in a nice box for headaches and migraines, so I have passed on the link to her.

@heartathome when you said hippy hugs and love, it reminded me of the teapot I sent to SHAZ51 yesterday.

I used to work with crystals in the 80's. As a Christian, I don't 'use' them anymore but have them all around my place because I like the look of them and who knows if they work. I believe God created them for a reason. I love the rose quartz in the heart shape! 💚

I was just reading that it strengthens the physical heart and circulatory system and also aids chest and lung problems. My mum has heart issues and chest and lung problems. So, I think I will be sharing one of my hearts with her, once I have put my intention into it. I did give you a heart rose quartz key ring a few years ago, and she still has it hanging off her handbag.

@Bunniekins I am pretty lucky really. I am 55 and now I am only on two full time medications, and one I take as I need. I think that's pretty good for my age.

My poor mum has I think over 20 tablets that she has to take every day. I can't imagine having that many tablets. And I know for a fact that if you take a tablet for reflux, you need to not take any other medication with it. You must take it 4 hours before or after the reflux medication. And I know my mum has one in her pile. I watch her in the morning; she puts about 10 tablets on a spoon and has it with the last of her milk from her breakfast cereal. I have asked her if the pharmacists has checked her medication to make sure that they are not causing problems being taken together, and she assures me that they way she is taking them is ok. So, I have to believe her. Except with the reflux one. I don't think that is right.

I remember reading on the web somewhere saying that the crystals don't work, but because you are putting your intent into the crystal and you have the crystal on or close to you, it serves as a reminder of what your intent is, and it is that intent that heals and protects. I will give it a go.

@Mustang67 20 is massive amount! 😮  im on 12 and i thought that was alot! im over taking all these meds but hey they seem to work so ..... hopefuly with the exercise routine i am on i wont need any more and maybe drop some 😄

@Bunniekins that's it. As you get fitter and your body improves, you might not need some of them.

I was on a blood pressure medication, but that was because it was a side effect from my antidepressants, but since I switched to another brand ages ago, my doctor has taken me it and wants to see how I go.

My mum is not happy with her decision; as she has had two strokes, and heart attacks and stroke run in the family. But last time they took my blood pressure it was in the 140's, so really that is nothing to worry about. So I am all good as far as that goes. The only other concern is my cholesterol levels, which are high. Another side effect from medication. But the doctor doesn't want to put me on medication yet. So really if I wasn't on my antidepressants, I would only need 1 medication, and my blood pressure and cholesterol would have been fine.

@MissGremlin I actually went outside into the garden and found some flowers.  It killed my back, but it is nice outside, except for the wind blowing the flowers around while I was trying to take a photo.  Lol

@Bunniekins I had to search for them. They were the only flowers in my mum's front yard. 

My other half is being a legend and mowing the front yard for my mum. She was going to get the council to do it and pay for it, but he just got out there and started doing it. It looks great. Mum's back yard is massive, so not sure if he is going to do it all today, but we will wait and see. 

But just that small walk and standing taking the photos has put my back into spasam. So it is resting for me. Just like every other day.

I was just talking to my mum standing in her door way and had to sit down as I could feel it starting to tighten up again. Which was a good thing because then I received a visit from my beautiful cat. 

Mum's neighbour just came over and gave me two lots of these that she made for me, because she knows I love Butterflies. How awesome is that.

Oh my, they are absolutely stunning 😍. I want some, especially for my straws that I take with me and cutlery cos I can't use paper/wooden ones due to my phobia. 

I'm feeling like a failure today, 10 years of doing my washing and having it dry before Monday and this weekend I completely forgot. My brain is just such a mess with everything going on and I'm forgetting to do things. I'm frustrated with myself for it but I've been reminded that it's ok and to try to be gentle with myself.

My goodness! Can I pause and celebrate that achievement with you for a moment? That is actually incredible! 

In within that context of your consistent achievement over such a long time, I honestly do not feel/think you have "failed" by missing it once! (or even a number of times a year if that were the case).

Forgetfulness is soo understandable - especially with stress. That's my experience at least. You should have seen me yesterday. I was prepared so early to go out... ...and I still forget 5 things I meant to take! Yet I had packed my bag 5 hours before needing to go -- I just didn't think about needing those things until i was in my car driving. And that was a not-stressed day! lol. My brain is a mess too!

Yes, I encourage you to be gentle with yourself and loving of yourself and compassionate still. *hugs*

@AlwaysMyself yes every week, it all has to be dry ready for Monday so it's necessary to get it done. 

I find it hard to see it as an achievement though as it's just what has to be done, it's routine. But thankyou sweet.

Missing it feels like such a big thing and it's a reminder of just how bad things are at the moment. I try to have things ready before leaving so that I don't have to stress at the last minute but I still manage to forget things so I can relate. Actually as I'm typing i just remembered that I was in the middle of getting things ready for yesterday and I've gotten distracted 😂. I try to do multiple things at once and then my brain seems to just lose complete focus and I forget everything that I was trying to do. 

I'm doing my best to be gentle with myself, I've at least done the washing now though I'm not sure if things will be ready for tomorrow but we'll tackle that when we get there. Thankyou for the hugs sweetheart ❤️

You are dead right it is ok to be gentle with yourself @MissGremlin You have so much going on, no wonder your forgetting things. I would be amazed if you weren't. And you are not a failure for forgetting the washing.  It will still be there tomorrow. 

Yes I am going to put the cutlery sets in the gloves box for those days you need decent cutlery.  The straws are silicone.  Well I hope they are, as I am allergic to rubber and latex.

@heartathome It will be a surprise for my mum.

I nearly lost her last night. My sister went into the house from the rumpus room to get a heartburn tablet and as soon as she walked into the house, she could smell gas. The whole house was full of it. We haven't worked out what happened yet, but mum wasn't cooking anything, so we think she might have knocked one of the knobs on the stove and it turned on without her noticing. She said that it was 30 mins since she went to the kitchen, so the gas was filling up the house for 30 minutes. My sister opened all the doors and windows. Except we couldn't get to mum's window, so my partner put a fan in the doorway of her room to suck the gas out.

It was so lucky that my sister needed to get the heartburn medication, otherwise the gas could have been filling the house all night, and I don't think mum would have survived that, let alone the rabbit and my cat. Mum was a little groggy when my sister went in. But when my partner checked on her later when he removed the fan, he said that she looked ok. Phew that was a close one.

Besides my back issues I am doing ok. I think moving back to mum's has actually helped me, because since I have been here, I have not had my usual depressive episode. So that's a good thing.

@PeppyPatti You wouldn't believe it, the exact same thing happened to my other sister last night as well. Except she couldn't smell the gas, it was her granddaughter's boyfriend who smelt the gas and turned it off and aired her house out.  Lucky, they popped in to pick some stuff up.

I am still trying to wrap around my head around how the exact same thing happened at both houses. My sister reckons someone is trying to take our family out. I assume she was joking.

I've been smelling gas here lately @Mustang67 @PeppyPatti  worked out cos only the 1 cylinder connected. diaphragm switch thing in middle old and worn. took me days to realise was cos only one cylinder. normally if regulator or whatever its called leaks a bit , just goes in emply side and dont smell it. 

so I asked google/AI

Failed Non-Return Valves (NRV): Many changeover valves rely on non-return valves in the pigtails to prevent gas from escaping from the unused side. If these fail, gas can travel down the empty hose and leak out.
Important Safety Note: If you smell gas, you should immediately shut off the cylinder valve, extinguish all open flames, and check for leaks using soapy wate

@TAB What is going on with all this gas stuff. I was smelling gas in the caravan last week, and someone had switched the changeover valve to the side where there was no cylinder. So, F&$K knows who did that.

My mum does not live in a good neighbourhood. Just two nights ago my partner was having a shower inside and he looked out the window, and he could see someone hiding in the bushes in the back yard. He yelled out that if he was still out there when he came out there would be hell to pay, then the person ran to the back of the yard and jumped the fence.

We did have the extension cord for the caravan going into the laundry using the back door, but this meant that we couldn't shut or lock the back door. After that happened, my partner has fed the extension cord through the laundry window, so the back door can now be locked at nighttime. So, if people are jumping our back fence, it could have been one of these people that was playing with the gas cylinder on the caravan. 

When I changed my address on my car insurance, the premium went up by $30 extra a month, so that shows for sure we are not in a nice neighbourhood.

Well, I am off to try and get some sleep. So as my mum and sister say Toodle Pip.

 actually @Oaktree  i was wasting $5.50 on a coffee in a cafe ☕️ and I overheard a new mother telling someone she was thinking her mother needed a mental health lockdown because her mother  flew over from another country to see her grandchild and she overheard her mother talking to herself in the kitchen.

@PeppyPatti I talk to myself all the time. Especially when I am working through something difficult.  I find if I speak it out loud,  that I can pick up an error in my thought process easier. 

Talking to yourself is perfectly normal, common, and often beneficial for organizing thoughts, boosting memory, regulating emotions, and enhancing focus. It is a healthy way to process information and manage stress.

Yes it's a sand bickie, it does look like a camera which made the perfect opportunity for a photo. I loved sharing the pics the other day, I'm trying to get out more in nature as it's something I enjoy but there's only so much in my back and front yards to take photos of. Can't wait to see your pic of the grasshopper. I upload my pics from my phone (only use my phone camera), I don't have a computer, ok I do but it's still running Windows XP and chooses when it wants to work, it gets turned on maybe 3 times a year 😂.

@Chasingsunsets I use both my phone and my laptop. The images that I am using are downloaded from Pinterest and I have no trouble with size or anything. 

Some pictures from the past few days. I love raindrops on things, something about it always makes me smile. The pink flower is the only one on my plant at the moment, hoping more start to pop up with the weather change.

Sorry it's taken me so long to reply! I wouldn't have a clue what's in them @Mustang67 My friend makes them all the time and I was going to help her. All I know is that they're yummy 'healthy' little chocolate balls, coated in coconut! We're putting a peppermint flavouring in this time. Oh yes. I think you could put all kinds of things in them, depending how big you want to make them. I like the little bite size version. No cooking involved which is my kind of cooking! 😁

Bitter sweet day form me today. i saw my wife and daughter we went out and had lunch and a beach walk - it was fabulous. i enjoyed it so much, as did my wife and daughter. Just a few hours tho.

It bit me hard when time was up and separation was real again.😭

(Why do i feed the pain and not the goodness  we lived those hours?)

Here is a quick rundown of how I add words to images @Chasingsunsets. When I double click on an image to open it, the screen below appears.

The symbol that I have circled is the symbol for Copilot, which I think comes with the Microsoft package that I purchased for my laptop. So, you can either click on the + sign which is down the bottom of the screen that opened up, as you will see on the last image, or you just tell it to create an image and tell it exactly what you want in the image. And then I tell it what text to add. sometimes it can take a few goes, but you eventually get to what you want and then you can save it to use whenever you want. So far, this program has not limited me on the amount of images I can do. Two other programs that I was using yesterday and the day before, had limits applied if you were using the free version. The next two images will give you an idea of what I asked it to do.

So are you planning to go hiking with your wife today or were you just telling us you enjoy hiking. I used to love hiking when I could walk and my knees and back where not playing up. I really miss the outdoors, as when I arrived to go for a hike or a walk at the beach, I would always feel like I was at home.

When I see your instructions on how to add writing I get very confused and I cant focus.

I try and read slower and I cannot get it.

So Ive just decided to forgive myself and let you be the peroson to be able to do this and maybe in months to come I can.

Its weird even writing this because like you @Mustang67 Im getting a chance to move to a much safer place in the next 6 months.......ITs like I cannot even relate to that Ive been making myself unsafe for years.

@PeppyPatti I am glad that you decided to forgive yourself for not being able to focus on the instructions. It could also be the way that I wrote them. It might make sense in my mind, but be confusing to others. It does take a bit of getting used to, but this program is pretty good. I have spent today creating birthday messages using my daughter's favourite colour and her animals that I uploaded a picture of. Then the AI suggested I send her a heartfelt message around lunchtime and then a message for bedtime.  It was worded beautifully and I could not have said it better myself. 

I have removed my daughter's name, but this is what was created. 

I am so glad that you will be moving to a safer place in the next 6 months, that will hopefully help make you feel safer and it's one less thing to worry about.

Where I have moved to, is somewhere that I would not consider safe. At nighttime on the weekend's, we have drones flying over and it sort of feels like they are casing the place out, or to see what our movements are. At one stage we had someone in our driveway, trying my car door to see if it would open, we have had a guy hiding in the bushes in the backyard and my partner saw and threatened him, so the guy turned around and jumped back over the back fence. And on Saturday night around 7ish when my partner and I were in the caravan, I could hear someone outside the caravan doing something. I just assumed it was my sister either filling up the water tank or emptying the toilet cassette for me. And then I didn't think much of it. Later I thought I heard someone knock on the caravan, but by the time I put the blind down and opened the window, there was no one there. I messaged my niece and sister to see if it was them, and it wasn't. I then asked my sister did she fill up the water or empty the toilet, and she said that she hadn't been near the caravan and was inside for the last 3 hours. They have storage compartments on the outside of the caravan, so I reckon someone was trying to get into those. From now on, if I near a noise, I will be checking it out, and not assuming it is my sister.

Hopefully you don't have to put up with rubbish like this. I am just so glad that my partner is here with me. I wouldn't like it, if we didn't have a male on the premises.
