Re: Thursday Coffee & Chat - 26 March

Hi @Fluttershy1

My week has been a bit of a rollercoaster, some good parts and some tougher ones. I am, however, really happy to have a day where I don’t have anything planned. I’m thinking of things I can do for myself to bring some comfort. Maybe I’ll do some colouring in or try another watercolour painting. I like painting sea landscapes, or mountains with a lake, it’s a bit tricky to get the water right. I'm still learning. I guess it’s just about getting to the point where you actually bring it all out and put it on the table. I hope it will happen today, it would be good.

How has your week been so far? 🙂

Hey @SaltwaterSoul

I believe you can bring all your art stuff out and do it today, if you have a quiet one, it will be good for you!

My week has been up and down, but planning to have a quiet one as I don’t feel great today and I had a procedure done on my foot yesterday and it still hurts, also it’s windy and cold here so just huddling under the blankets.

@Fluttershy1

Thank you, I hope so. It’s always like that ,I feel this little battle inside me, thinking, Do I really have the energy to do this? But then, once it’s out, I usually end up feeling a bit more grounded.

Oh, it sounds like you’ve been through quite a big procedure. I hope your pain settles soon, I can imagine cold and rugged weather doesn’t make it any easier as well. What do you like to do for quiet time? Be well soon and take care of yourself because you deserve it.

Re: Thursday Coffee & Chat - 26 March

@SaltwaterSoul - I believe in you to get the paints out it will be super fun🩷

I like arts and crafts - movie watching and playing the Nintendo switch.

@Fluttershy1

I’ll keep you updated. Thank you for the encouragement! 🙏 Oh, Nintendo Switch, I haven’t played for a few years. I remember playing Mario Kart and Mario Party, such classics. Which games do you usually play? And if you could choose, what kind of art and craft would you like to do? 🎨

Re: Thursday Coffee & Chat - 26 March

@SaltwaterSoul - Mario kart, Mario party, Nintendo sports, animal crossing or minecraft.

craft wise - pipe cleaner flowers, mini stars, paint pouring, mosaics, scrapbooking, colouring, painting, diamond art

Re: Thursday Coffee & Chat - 26 March

@Fluttershy1

Wow you got a couple of games, that's good fun.

Diamond art sounds interesting, I don’t think I’ve heard of it before or maybe I have, but just didn't realise the name of it, I'll do a google search and find out. 👍 Scrapbooking is fun! Have you heard of junk journaling? It looks really cool. I think it’s a bit similar to scrapbooking, but the reason it’s called “junk” is that you can use literally anything, any material. I haven’t tried it myself yet, but I’ve had a look, and it seems like my inner child’s dream, a big vibrant collage, but in a journal format. Maybe one day!

I’m going to prepare some early lunch, and then hopefully get my art stuff out and see what I end up doing. I’ll check in a bit later today. I really wish you some peace and quiet, and hopefully some pain-free moments soon.🙏

@Shaz51 - I’m ok, got the procedure done on my foot yesterday so it’s sorta hurting today but apart from that I’m having a good day!

Re: Thursday Coffee & Chat - 26 March

@Shaz51

Hi Shaz, I haven’t talked to you in a while, hope you’ve been well. I also hope your doctor’s appointment went okay. I got a spider plant cutting gifted to me, but I haven’t put it in soil yet. I’m thinking of doing that tomorrow maybe.

@Fluttershy1
Thanks! I ended up doing a bit of watercolour, just tried another mountain and lake landscape. It feels like I’m getting better with the mountains and shading. The lake part is still a bit tricky, but I guess practice is how you learn. Then I ended up having a quite a long nap. I slept rough last night, so that was really nice. I haven’t felt relaxed enough to nap for weeks, so that felt like a bit of a bonus.

What are you both having for dinner tonight?🙂

Re: Thursday Coffee & Chat - 26 March

Hi

I've got a small beef pot roast in the instant pot on slow cook

Without naming specifics, I've sent several enquiries about procuring some sort of advocate to assist in dealing with healthcare. Today another option fell through

Meanwhile, my mood is tanking. Has anybody else who experiences SAD or Seasonal Depression had an early onset this year?

I have my routine down after 20+ years of this. I make a slow hot cocoa on the stove top to signal it in and accept it. I have telehealth therapy tomorrow, and I'm considering doing the session with my hot cocoa. My psychologist knows about the cocoa routine, but I've never shared/spent the moment with another human before

@DogMan79

Beef pot roast sounds really nice, it's something special with slow-cooked meals sometimes.
I'm really sorry to hear that your attempts to find an advocate didn't work out today. That sounds frustrating and exhausting. Thanks for sharing your cocoa routine. Whatever you decide tomorrow, whether to share the moment or just drink it for yourself, I really hope it brings you some comfort, and I wish you a good session tomorrow. Take care of yourself. If you feel comfortable, let us know what you decided tomorrow. 🙂
