Wednesday Coffee & Chat - 1st April

Wednesday Coffee & Chat - 1st April

Wednesday cat funny.jpg

Good morning, everyone. Don't forget it's the 1st of April, so that makes it April Fool's Day, so watch out for any pranksters out there.

I remember when I was working, we would give our boss phone messages saying that Sue Ridge from SA Water rang or Theresa Green from Forestry SA rang. Lol It was a law firm, so we had to keep ourselves amused somehow.

Enjoy your day and enjoy your coffee or tea.

And for any of the new members, we use this space to chat about anything really, so feel free to join in.

@MissGremlin It's not too bad so far, except we have no electricity until around 3pm, which sucks as my laptop and phone will probably be flat by then. Lol

Re: Wednesday Coffee & Chat - 1st April

@MissGremlin the power is back on, but not before my phone died. I have just returned from the delivering easter presents to my sister's house, taking mum to her doctor's appointment and then getting 9 scripts filled for her at the chemist.

And get this, remember how I said about the house filling up with gas last night, the exact same thing happened at my sister's house last night. Except she couldn't smell it. If it wasn't for her granddaughter and her boyfriend dropping in, things could have ended up differently once again. Luckily the boyfriend could smell the gas and turned it off and aired out her house. How bizarre is it, that both my mum's place and my sister's place has gas filling up their houses from the stove on the same night.  My sister said that two of her knobs were turned on halfway and she said that she definitely didn't turn them on. She was using the stove but couldn't work out why the two knobs were on. They both obviously have old stoves, as the ones these days you need to push the knobs in before you turn them, to enable to gas to flow. Their stoves are very dangerous.

My sister seems to think that someone is trying to take the family out, but I assume she was only joking. Well, I hope she was only joking. We do have a settlement pending in regard to the separation of my other sister. And her ex and her son would come around and sit in their car, just up from the house and watch the house. For what reason, I am not sure. But they definitely can't get inside.

i am partial to Superb blue Fairy Wrens, and the wisdom only 10 years ago, in our local environmental group, was that they are not at high risk for extinction.  Sad.

Re: Wednesday Coffee & Chat - 1st April

@Appleblossom That is very sad about the Superb Blue Fairy Wrens. They are such a pretty bird.

And really has the climate changed slowed down at all with all the changes that have been made around the world. I don't watch or listen to news, so I have no idea, if the climate change has slowed, or has continued at the same pace. But sill very sad for the poor birds ☹️

I hope your evening is going well.

Hi @Invi I had a bit of running around to do for my mum today. And because I have chronic back issues, it means I was in pain and buggered when I arrived home this afternoon. I laid down to rest my back and ended up falling asleep. Lol

Did you get up too much today?

@Cat34 what state are you in? I am in SA, we have rain overnight, but it wasn't a lot. And it rained in the early hours of this morning but then felt humid.

Re: Wednesday Coffee & Chat - 1st April

OMG @Anonymouse1000 I never knew such a bee existed. I assume that they are rare. Since I have never seen one in my lifetime, I bet seeing one this morning would have made you feel special, and I can see why it made your morning.

I love learning about new things. You have taught me something today, so thank you for sharing.

How did you come to learn about this type of bee?

Re: Wednesday Coffee & Chat - 1st April

@Dimity I totally get that. I don't think I will be celebrating Easter at all this year. I am really not in the mood for it.

I am just waiting to hear back from my daughter to see what day over the break she would like to catch up. As then I can give her, her birthday present that arrived today. And somehow, I will need to get a birthday card for her. I think I will see if my mum or sister have any. Because of my back issues, I can't go to the shops to get her one. I did have one that I purchased earlier in the year for her, but I have no clue where that has gone since moving into a caravan, and 95% of our belongings have been stored at my partner's work. To tell you the truth I don't think she would care if she got a card or not. A couple of times I have given her a card for either her birthday or Christmas, and she then either forgets to take them with her or deliberately leaves them behind. Lol

Re: Wednesday Coffee & Chat - 1st April

Hi @Mustang67

We grew up on David Attenborough documentaries when we were young so I guess the nature fascination has always been there. At one point one of my special interests was native australian plants and thats when I noticed our native bees...thats where the blue banded bee came in... our native bees are special, then tend to be solitary & stingless. They turn up rarely in my garden but I have been planting natives for years trying to attract them to the garden. When I see them its a rare and wonderful sight 🙂

Re: Wednesday Coffee & Chat - 1st April

Back issues that come and go are the pits @Mustang67 . Mine barely count but have been troublesome lately. No wonder, my mood & activity tracker said today I'd only done my physio exercises twice last month.

I'm not sure if I'll see anyone over the break but bought some chocolate eggs just in case.

Re: Wednesday Coffee & Chat - 1st April

@Anonymouse1000 I haven't seen blue banded bees for a couple of years. They liked my blue salvia although it's not a native.

I've been replanting some native groundcovers.

Re: Wednesday Coffee & Chat - 1st April

@Anonymouse1000 I used to love watching David Attenborough documentaries, I found them so fascinating. I watched the one that was narrated by Tom Hanks a little while ago. I don't think I finished watching all of them, but I watched the first three. Unfortunately, we don't have a TV in the caravan, but I am sure I would be able to access the other episodes on my phone, after a bit of research. I think it was called the The Americas.

I think it's great that you are planting natives to attract them to your garden. I am glad that you have been rewarded for your effort. Well Done!

Re: Wednesday Coffee & Chat - 1st April

@Dimity I have decided that I will have to get my partner to go to the supermarket to get my daughter's request for some Lindt chocolate for Easter. At least she has good taste for a teenager. She will be 17 next week. And I will probably just get a chocolate rabbit for my mum, sister and my partner. And that will be it. I am not going to waste money on the rest of my family who don't usually think of me at Easter time.

I should have been starting my new physio and exercise program this month, but I have ordered too many Crystals using AfterPay, so now I need to pay them off before I can start the physio

I just looked up if any crystals help with back pain and found this chart. And I just happen to have/ordered all of the crystals mentioned.

Re: Wednesday Coffee & Chat - 1st April

Haha lol @Shaz51 thats funny when they dont consider "and where do you think the common genetic component of the ADHD might be coming from...?" 🤣

I havent told my dad (yet?) of my AuDHD diagnosis. Maybe it will come up, maybe it wont. I dont know how he will react. He doesnt have self-insight, so i dont think he would see it as he also very likely has too 😅.

Honestly my mum had traits too, which i think is why it was "normalised" so much for me as a child (the behavioural-modifications for managing milder symptoms) - things like time management, over-planning, setting alarms, etc.
