Use whatcha got to get where you wanna go

Use whatcha got to get where you wanna go

This is a bit of a follow on from my previous post on humour, but with added fibre (and its on special today only😁)

You already know how to recover. Your body is infinitely wise and within us all lies answers to virtually anything. Now, does this mean we don't sometimes need help? Absolutely not - sometimes, we forget our past wins and need someone there to help us remember. Therapy is tremendously powerful, use it if you need it.

But here is what I want you to remember: You are stronger than you think BECAUSE you have survived and often thrived in the past. The previous version of you is still there, just currently asleep, under all the "current" you challenges you are going through.

We can use all sorts of ways to access your previous "You" and find some peace (as I quick aside, I have Alanis Morriset playing "Oughta Know" - I truly thought for years, she was moaning about "her crossed-eyed bear"...turns out it was "cross I bear." I like my version better - trying listening to it that was and you cannot help but crack a smile. For your listening pleaseur then (ok I frenchified the word and I make no apologies)....

You already possess so many talents, gifts, qualities, so give yourself some credit.

Its so easy to get out of balance and before we know it, we reach a tipping point and we shut down a bit. Whatever you focus on (especially with deep emotion), you attract more of. This is what keeps so many stuck. I'm not wagging the finger here at all - I have done it myself multiple times. The trap is to stay in that mental state where there seems to be no hope - its a HUGE LIE. THERE IS ALWAYS HOPE. Why? Because everything moves, nothing is ever truly at rest. You literally cannot stay still, even if you tried (We are all moving through space at 30 miles a second, so...good luck with staying still). My point is, find things from your past, no matter how small, that allowed you to feel a little better. What solutions worked in the past. If the situation this time is different, maybe you could tweak it a little, but you know the answers deep down. You just need to have a small amount of belief in yourself and start small, then keep doing it. Within a short time, you will feel slightly better. From that new vantage point, you can see a bit further. It's worth persisting because it can seem very hard to do at first, but I guarantee you can find solutions if you just give it a go, be gentle on yourself (enough judgy dkheads out there, don't you be one - fight the good fight and be good to yourself and others).

Now, have a listen to this song and let the cacking begin...

Hi @Icaruslanded

It’s so easy to forget/ignore our past wins in the face of doubt. We have been capable before and we will be capable again. I completely agree with your statement on hope. It is always there, whether we choose to embrace it or not. It’s amazing the progress you can make when you decide to start small and see where it goes. One day you will look back and be in awe of how far you’ve come.

@Lapis_Anteater precisely what I was trying to convey, although I am feeling pretty rough today so not sure how clear this came out. Its true for sure, better to take a series of small steps forward than one giant step, when you are feeling defeated - almost guaranteed to fail. Small steps forward bring confidence with each small win and when you are in a better mental frame from those wins, you feel capable and confident, more empowered and more willing to try. Without going into detail, I am facing multiple challenges at the moment, financial, health and otherwise and this is my principle strategy to keep motivated and moving forward. It works. I am pleased you found it helpful.
